Paphiopedilum niveum

A small sized, hot growing, dwarf, terrestrial species with 4 to 5, strap-shaped to narrowly elliptic, mottled dark green and gray, purple spotting beneath leaves that is native to Thailand, Myanmar, peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and surrounding islands which is found in limestone rock crevasses near the sea at elevations of 10 to 60 meters in humus filled cracks on limestone cliffs with bright light that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, terminal, pubescent, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, single or occasionaly 2 flowered inflorescence.
This species requires moderate shade, high humidity,hot temperatures, and ample water while growing and a dry winter rest.
