Dendrobium lindleyi

SPECIES

Found as a miniature to small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte in Assam India, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Hainan provinces of China, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam at elevations of 400 to 1300 meters with erect, clustered, thickened upwards from a slender base, almost spindle-shaped, angled stems carrying a solitary, oblong, leathery, obtuse, leaf that blooms in the winter and spring with fragrant flowers on an axillary, 5 to 15 flowered, often penadant raceme that arise from nodes at the middle of the leafed or leafless cane. This species and the subspecies var jenkinsii need a cool dry winter rest to ensure a spring blooming.

This species differs mostly from the very similar D jenkinsii by having an inflorescence with many flowers.
