Found in Yunnan China and Laos in sparse woods on limestone slopes at elevations around 700 to 800 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte or lithophyte on rocks with a creeping rhizome and 1.6 to 3.6" [4 to 9 cm] between each ovoid pseudobulb and carrying a single, apical, erect, somewhat fleshy, oblong to obovate-oblong, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, [19 to 26 cm] long, suberect, subumbellate, 3 to 6 flowered inflorescence
